The Point No Point lighthouse in the Chesapeake Bay is up for sale. The Washington Post has the story this morning of a recent visit to the lighthouse by prospective buyers. It's a pretty beat-up looking lighthouse.
This is the third lighthouse for sale I've learned about this year; I think there may be a theme developing here.

This brought back many memories. I spent quite a bit of time on the Chesapeake Bay by boat, and have passed Point No Point many times.
What is it about lighthouses that are so fascinating? I remember going inside one once, I’m not sure which one, and they had the lighthouse keeper’s living quarters exactly as they were when it was active. Maybe it is something about the solitude and the absolutely loneliness of it all.
I wonder if a world without telephones, computers, and television would force us to be more introspective and truly face ourselves. Perhaps that is the appeal (and the fear) inspired by lighthouses
Shirley, women just love em.
I spent the night at a lighthouse on Chincotegue once. Yup, the wife loves lighthouses :)
